Ladybird, Ladybird Fly Away Home....

Hi there! I am an avid insect collector ever since I was young. These days, my interest is narrowed down to one family of beetle known as Coccinellidae. Some members in this particular family are widely known, the ladybirds. Put in mind that not all coccinellids are ladybirds, however. The reason I create this blog is to document and identify each ladybird species that can be found in Malaysia. The beauty of butterflies, the blink of fireflies, the ear-piercing chirp of cicada, the buzz of bees and the glide of dragonflies, the hairiness of tarantulas have mesmerized people very much ever since that make them famed. Unlike ladybirds, the appreciation is only limited to their contributions to agriculture. Yet, to me ladybirds are far more prominent not only because of their 'entomophagousity' but also the adorable size, striking coloration and walking behavior that make them so special. In fact, in the western countries, ladybirds have been one of the most renowned insects since hundreds of years ago. Canada, Australia, Thailand, United Kingdom, Ireland, Taiwan, Holland, the South American countries, and India are the examplary countries that really appreaciate ladybirds in which they have initiated their own websites on ladybird beetles. Then, why we in Malaysia do not do exactly like them to document our own ladybird biodiversity? Think about it. I am here just to help out to add more knowledge on the understanding of our ladybird fauna.
